Trigonox® 44B VRN is acetone peroxide in a solvent mixture.
Applications
Trigonox® 44B VRN is an acetylacetone peroxide formulation used to cure unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature and elevated temperatures in the presence of cobalt accelerators.Compared to curing systems based on MEKP with cobalt accelerators, the Trigonox® 44B VRN/cobalt accelerator curing system achieves faster cure rates at both room temperature and elevated temperatures.Typically, the gel time with Trigonox® 44B VRN is comparable to that with Butanox M-50. Trigonox® 44B VRN is particularly suitable for applications requiring rapid mold change, such as cold pressing or resin injection molding.The Trigonox® 44B VRN/cobalt accelerator system produces higher peak exothermic heat release than standard MEKP/cobalt accelerator systems. For this reason, it is recommended to avoid producing laminates that are too thick in a single operation.At low temperatures, reasonable curing rates can still be achieved when Trigonox® 44B VRN is used in combination with a large amount of cobalt accelerator (possibly in conjunction with N,N-dimethylaniline as an accelerator).
