Applications:
TAHP is a commonly used initiator for radical reactions. It is characterized by good thermal stability, safe handling, and ease of control. At temperatures below 50°C
, its activity remains stable for three months without significant change, and it does not require costly frozen storage. It can be used in emulsion polymerization, aqueous-phase polymerization, curing, and graft polymerization, among other fields, and in many respects, its performance
outperforms persulfates, isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide, and benzoyl peroxide in many respects. The decomposition products of TAHP are primarily tert-butanol and small amounts of acetone; it is non-corrosive and does not impose high demands on equipment. In contrast,
most other initiators form acidic byproducts.
TAHP is also widely used as a polymerization initiator for styrene and styrene copolymers (such as SAN and ABS), as well as for acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and vinyl chloride.
TAHP is a very important organic synthesis intermediate.
Packaging:
Standard packaging consists of polyethylene drums with a net weight of 25 kg or 180 kg. IBC packaging is also available, but special attention must be paid to the fact that when packaged in IBCs, the SADT is 50°C and the critical temperature is 55°C. Smaller packages may
also be provided according to customer specifications.
TAHP is a Class E liquid organic peroxide. Goods classification: 5.2; UN Number: 3107; Class 2 dangerous goods packaging.
Safety Precautions:
(1) Keep away from sources of ignition, open flames, and heat sources.
(2) Avoid contact with reducing agents (such as amines), acids, alkalis, and heavy metal compounds (such as accelerators, metal soaps, etc.).
(3) Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product.
Storage Conditions:
Keep the packaging tightly sealed and in a well-ventilated area. The maximum storage temperature is 35°C. Avoid contact with reducing agents such as amines, acids, alkalis, and heavy metal compounds (accelerators and metal soaps). Repackaging and handling within the warehouse are strictly prohibited.
Storage Stability:
When stored under the conditions specified by the manufacturer, the product is guaranteed to meet factory technical standards for six months.
Fire Extinguishing:
For small fires, use dry powder or carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, while simultaneously spraying with copious amounts of water to prevent reignition. For large fires, spray with copious amounts of water from a safe distance.
