Accelerator™ 553SN is a cobalt accelerator for curing unsaturated polyester resins.

Accelerator™ 553SN is a metal complex solution based in part on cobalt salts in organic solvents. Accelerator™ 553SN has a faster cure rate and comparable gelling time compared to commonly used cobalt accelerators. Therefore, Accelerator™ 553SN is well suited for end products that require faster release times. Applications such as gelcoat, RTM, polymer concrete production. Accelerator™ 553SN can be successfully used for the production of cobalt pre-promoted unsaturated polyester resins. The use of Accelerator™ 553SN will significantly reduce the drift in setting time observed with standard cobalt. Accelerator™ 553SN prevents foaming of VE resins containing standard MEKP, such as Butanox M-50.
