Accelerator™ 553SN is a cobalt accelerator used for curing unsaturated polyester resins.
Applications
Accelerator™ 553SN is a metal complex solution partially based on cobalt salts in organic solvents. Compared to commonly used cobalt accelerators, Accelerator™ 553SN offers a faster cure rate and comparable gel time. Therefore, Accelerator™ 553SN is ideal for end products requiring faster demolding times. Application areas include, for example, the production of gel coats, RTM, and polymer concrete. Accelerator™ 553SN can be successfully used in the production of cobalt-pre-accelerated unsaturated polyester resins. The use of Accelerator™ 553SN significantly reduces the gel time drift observed with standard cobalt. Accelerator™ 553SN prevents foaming in VE resins containing standard MEKP (e.g., Butanox M-50).
