Accelerator™ 383SN is a low-cobalt accelerator used for curing unsaturated polyester resins.
Applications
Accelerator™ 383SN is a metal complex solution, partially based on cobalt salts in organic solvents, developed to cure unsaturated polyester resins in combination with organic peroxides at both room temperature and elevated temperatures. Compared to the commonly used cobalt-based Accelerator™ NL-51P (= 6% cobalt), Accelerator™ 383SN cures much faster while providing comparable gel times. Therefore, Accelerator™ 383SN is well-suited for processes requiring faster final product demolding times but where shorter gel times or molding cycle times are not acceptable. Application areas include, for example: standard hand lay-up and spray-up applications, resin transfer molding, and the production of polymer concrete. Accelerator™ 383SN can be successfully used in the production of cobalt-pre-accelerated unsaturated polyester resins. The use of Accelerator™ 383SN will significantly reduce gel time drift, as observed with standard cobalt carboxylate.
