Trigonox® 42PR is a peroxide formulation used to cure unsaturated polyester resins in conjunction with Accelerator NL-51PN (6% cobalt solution) at temperatures of 60°C and above.
Applications
Trigonox® 42PR is a peroxide formulation based on tert-butyl 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate. Trigonox® 42PR has been developed to cure unsaturated polyester resins in combination with cobalt accelerators at temperatures of 60°C and above. Trigonox® 42PR, combined with a cobalt accelerator, can effectively serve as a substitute for Trigonox® 21 in applications where the use of Trigonox® 21 is limited by its official transportation and storage temperature limit of +20°C. Applications for the curing system consisting of Trigonox® 42PR and a cobalt accelerator (e.g., Accelerator NL-53N, 10% cobalt) include: artificial marble, polymer concrete, fiber winding, and air-drying paints. The combination of Trigonox® 42PR with cobalt accelerators and possible amine accelerators (such as Accelerator NL-63-100 (N,N-dimethylaniline)) is also well-suited for ambient-temperature curing of vinyl ester resins. Trigonox® 42PR cures much faster in these resins than the commonly used peroxides Butanox LPT and Trigonox® 239.
