Promotor C is an accelerator used in cobalt-accelerated curing systems that utilize ketone peroxides.
Applications
Promoter C, acetylacetone, or 2,4-pentanedione, is a promoter for ketone peroxide/cobalt-based curing systems used in the ambient-temperature and high-temperature curing of unsaturated polyester resins. When used in combination with, for example, Butanox M-50 or Accelerator NL-49PN, Promotor C shortens gel time and increases cure rate, thereby reducing demolding time. In this regard, Promotor C can be used as a substitute for aromatic amines, such as Accelerator NL-63-10P. Unlike what is observed with amine accelerators, Promotor C does not cause yellowing of the final product. Promotor C can be used very effectively at high temperatures to enhance the reactivity of curing systems based on peroxyl esters/ cobalt-based curing systems, such as Trigonox 21, Trigonox 42, or Trigonox C in combination with Accelerator NL-49PN (1% cobalt) or Accelerator NL-51PN (6% cobalt).
