Inhibitor NLC-10 is a 10% solution of 4-tert-Butyl-1,2-dihydroxy benzene = 4-tert-Butylcatechol in an aliphatic ester. Inhibitor NLC-10 is used at ambient temperatures to extend: 1) the gelling time of UP resin/peroxide/accelerator mixtures; 2) the service life of unsaturated polyester resin/peroxide mixtures; and 3) the service life of unsaturated polyester resin/amine accelerator mixtures. The use of inhibitor NLC-10 is not recommended to improve the shelf life of SMC or BMC formulations. Specialty peroxides, such as Trigonox 21LS, are recommended for this application to extend shelf life.
