Synolite 5001-W-2 is a flame-retardant unsaturated polyester resin that is pre-accelerated, thixotropic, and filled. Synolite 5001-W-2 is a halogen-free resin.

Processing

Stir the product thoroughly before use. Due to its curing behavior, Synolite 5001-W-2 exhibits poor secondary adhesion; for better results, wet-on-wet application is recommended. Curing with a medium-reactivity MEKP is recommended at temperatures between 15 and 30°C. Post-curing at 80–90°C for 4 hours is recommended; styrene dilution should be avoided to maintain flame-retardant properties. The shelf life of the product after adding the initiator (DEAA) is no more than 24 hours.

Pre-Use Guidelines

Before use, the resin should be conditioned to the specified, application-related temperature (typically, the minimum curing temperature for MEKP/Co is 15 °C). Stir the product before mixing.
