Applications Polymerization of Vinyl Chloride: Laurox is widely used as an initiator for the suspension and the native polymerization of Vinyl Chloride at temperatures in the range of 60-80 °C. In order to improve reactor efficiency, Laurox is in many cases used in combination with more reactive peroxides, e.g. with peroxydicarbonates (e.g. Perkadox 16) to increase reactivity. Polymerization of Ethylene: Laurox can be used as an initiator for high-pressure polymerization of ethylene, but due to its low solubility in most aliphatic solvents, it has been replaced in many cases by bis (3,5,5-trimethylacetyl) peroxide (Trigonox 36).
