- DHBP-80-WO is a colorless liquid containing 80% 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butyl peroxy)hexane, dissolved in white mineral oil.
- It is a bifunctional dialkyl peroxide primarily used as a crosslinking initiator (radical source) for polymers and for controlling the rheology of polypropylene.
- Appearance: Colorless liquid
- Purity (by gas chromatography): approximately 80% w/w
- Active oxygen (calculated value): approx. 8.9% w/w
- No desensitizer
- Density (20°C): approx. 0.87 g/cm³
- Viscosity at 20°C: approx. 11.4 mPa·s
- Refractive index at 20°C: approx. 1.430
- Color index (Hazen): approx. 50
- Immiscible with water, but miscible with alcohols and esters
- Critical Temperature (SADT): > 80°C
- Refrigerated stability: Freezing point below 0°C
- Recommended storage temperature: up to 40°C
- Storage stability after delivery date: 12 months
- This product complies with ElektroG (EU Directives: RoHS 2002/95/EG, WEEE 2002/96/EG)
- Half-life: 10 hours/1 hour/1 minute (0.1 m/benzene): 120/142/190°C
- CR-POLYPROPYLENE: Used as a radical source for rheological control of polypropylene.
- Temperature range: 200–220°C
- Usage Level: 0.01–0.1% w/w, based on the polymer, depending on the product supplied.
- This degradation, for example in an extruder, reduces the average molecular weight, making the polypropylene easier to (re)process.
- The melt index of rheology-controlled materials increases as the peroxide level rises.
