- It is used as a free-radical initiator for unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl monomers, and oils.
- It can be used alone or in combination with other peroxides and is suitable for both room-temperature and high-temperature processes.
- Appearance: Pale yellow to colorless liquid.
- Active oxygen content: 8.7%.
- Propylbenzophenone peroxide content: 80–85%.
- Flash point: > 72°C.
- Density: 1.05 g/cm³.
- Soluble in: alcohols, ketones, esters, hydrocarbons.
- Slightly soluble in: water.
- Critical temperature (SADT): 75°C.
- Recommended storage temperature: below 30°C.
- Shelf life at temperatures below 30°C: 6 months.
- Activation temperature: approximately 80°C.
- Form of supply: 25-kilogram polyethylene containers.
- Suitable for curing unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature and high temperatures.
- It has a mild exothermic profile, which helps prevent cracking.
- Typically used in combination with cobalt and/or manganese compounds.
- Warning: Do not mix with acids or directly with additives, as this may cause decomposition and result in fire or explosion.
