Technical data:

  • Appearance: colorless liquid
  • Purity: >99%
  • Active oxygen content: more than 10.8%
  • Density at 20°C: approx. 0.79 g/cm3
  • Viscosity at 20°C: approx. 0.8 mPa-s
  • Refractive index at 20°C: approx. 1.389
  • Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents
  • Vapor pressure at different temperatures: 25/75/1000 mbar at 20/40/110°C respectively
  • Critical temperature (SADT): above 80°C
  • Refrigeration stability: liquid remains stable below -25°C
  • Recommended storage temperature: below 40°C
  • Storage stability: 12 months stable from date of delivery

Applications:

  1. Polymer crosslinking:
    • For cross-linking polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE) at temperatures greater than 180°C.
    • Effective and relatively burn-in free.
    • Dosage: 0.5-2% mass ratio according to the material to be cross-linked.
    • Volatile, odorless decomposition product.
    • No sulfide surface odor.
  2. Polypropylene rheology control:
    • Used as a source of free radicals to control the rheology of polypropylene.
    • Temperature range: 200°C - 220°C.
    • Dosage: Based on 0.01% - 0.1% mass ratio of polymer.
    • The lowering of molecular weight averages makes polypropylene easier to reprocess.

Standard Packaging:

  • DTBP is supplied in 20 kg (44.1 lb) polyethylene tanks.
