Applications:
  1. Polymer crosslinking:
    • Used to cross-link polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE) at temperatures above 180°C.
    • Effective and relatively free of charring.
    • Usage: 0.5–2% by weight of the material to be cross-linked.
    • Volatile, odorless decomposition products.
    • No sulfur-like odor on the surface.
  2. Polypropylene rheology control:
    • Used as a free-radical source to control the rheology of polypropylene.
    • Temperature range: 200°C–220°C.
    • Usage: 0.01%–0.1% by weight of the polymer.
    • Makes polypropylene easier to reprocess by reducing the average molecular weight.
Standard Packaging:
  • DTBP is supplied in 20-kilogram (44.1-pound) polyethylene drums.
