- BCHPC is a white, free-flowing powder whose main component is technical-grade tert-butyl cyclohexyl peroxydicarbonate. This cyclohexyl peroxydicarbonate is used as an initiator for curing unsaturated polyester resins.
- Appearance: White, free-flowing powder
- Peroxide Content: Approximately 95.0% w/w
- Active oxygen content: approx. 3.81% w/w
- No desensitizer
- Bulk Density: Approx. 0.50 kg/l
- Melting point: approx. 82°C
- Critical temperature (SADT): approx. 45°C
- "Activation" temperature: 50°C
- Recommended storage temperature: Below 20°C
- Maximum shipping temperature: 30°C
- Maximum storage temperature: 20°C
- Shelf life after delivery: 6 months
- Primarily used for curing unsaturated polyester resins, in combination with peroxides that have higher thermal stability.
- Usage ratio: 1–2% of the total weight as supplied.
- "Shelf life" (gel time of resin + peroxide) is several weeks at room temperature; the exact duration depends on the resin type, fillers, and pigments.
- "Pot life" (gel time of resin + peroxide + accelerator) can last several days when used in combination with peroxides (peresters) that have higher thermal stability; the exact duration depends on temperature and dosage.
- Adding 0.1–0.3% of the inhibitor BC-500 can significantly extend both shelf life and pot life.
- Within the 50°C ("initiation" temperature) range, the curing rate is low unless exothermic reactions occur (e.g., in a heated mold).
- Good curing performance can only be achieved by adding peroxides with higher thermal stability.
- Primarily used in pultrusion, hot-press molding, wet-press molding, CIPP (Cured-in-Place Pipe), and other processes.
- The standard packaging for BCHPC is 20 kg (4 × 5 kg PE bags packed in a cardboard box).
