Synolite™ 0542-U-2 is a DCPD-based unsaturated polyester dissolved in styrene. This resin is pre-promoted with a polyamine and has medium viscosity and medium reactivity.
Main Applications
Synolite™ 0542-U-2 is designed for the manufacture of automotive touch-up body fillers, providing rapid early cure and a non-tacky surface after curing.
Key Characteristics
Synolite™ 0542-U-2 has moderate viscosity and moderate reactivity. It wets fillers well. After curing, the resin is semi-rigid, which promotes rapid surface curing and provides high heat distortion resistance. The polyamine curing system allows for rapid curing at lower temperatures. Furthermore, thanks to this state-of-the-art curing system, staining of the topcoat by the putty is significantly reduced. Putty formulated with Synolite™ 0542-U-2 exhibits excellent storage stability. Synolite™ 0542-U-2 putty exhibits excellent adhesion to metal substrates, wood, and polyester.

This putty resin is cured by adding benzoyl peroxide (BPO), without the need for external heat. For soft-sand automotive repair putties, this semi-rigid putty resin can be blended with the flexible resin Synolite™ 5241-X-1.
