Superox® 7 is a general-purpose methyl ethyl ketone peroxide primarily used to cure unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature in combination with a curing accelerator. Product Characteristics:
- Active oxygen content: 9.2–9.5%.
- Appearance: clear, colorless liquid.
- Specific gravity at 20°C is 1.11.
- Flash point (SETA C.C.): 43°C.
- Soluble in oxidizing organic solvents; slightly soluble in water.
Storage and Handling:
- Storage at 30°C or below is recommended; the optimal storage temperature is below 25°C.
- Store in the original container, away from flammable materials and heat sources.
- Avoid direct sunlight and contact with certain chemicals.
- In the event of a spill, immediately isolate the spill to a safe area and handle it appropriately.
- Do not store the product in a refrigerator used for food and beverages.
Handling and First Aid:
- All production personnel should be familiar with safe handling procedures and consult the MSDS.
- Avoid inhaling vapors and wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Diluting the product is not recommended; adding peroxides directly to the co-catalyst is prohibited.
- In the event of contact with the eyes, skin, or ingestion, take appropriate first aid measures immediately.
Spills and Fires:
- Absorb spills with inert materials to prevent potential hazards or violent combustion or decomposition.
- Use water to extinguish the fire from a safe distance, particularly with a water mist nozzle.
- For small fires, carbon dioxide, foam, or dry chemical extinguishers may be used.
- If a fire occurs in or near the storage area, spray water on the storage containers to cool them.
