Superox® 688 Product Description
- Superox® 688 is a methyl ethyl ketone peroxide product used to cure unsaturated polyester resins and vinyl ester resins at room temperature in conjunction with a catalyst.

- Active oxygen content: 9.3%–9.6%
- Form: Clear liquid
- Color: Colorless
- Flash point (SETA C.C.): 36°C
- Soluble in: Oxidizing organic solvents
- Slightly soluble in: Water
Storage
- Recommended storage temperature is 30°C or below; the optimal storage temperature is below 25°C.
- Store in the original container, away from flammable materials, heat sources, sparks, open flames, sunlight, cobalt naphthenate, co-catalysts, accelerators, oxidizing agents, reducing agents, strong acids, or strong bases.
- In the event of a container leak, remove the container and isolate it to a safe area; repackage or dispose of it immediately.
- Do not store in refrigerators containing food or beverages.
- During use, use the product with the earliest production date first.
Handling
- Production personnel should handle the product safely and consult the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).
- Remove only the amount needed for a single use from the storage area.
- Wear safety goggles, gloves, and chemical-resistant gloves.
- Keep away from heat, flames, and sparks, and avoid inhaling vapors.
- Dilution is not recommended; do not add peroxides directly to the cocatalyst or vice versa, as this may cause violent decomposition.
- Avoid contact with contaminants such as dust, excess spray, wood, and flammable materials.
- Avoid contact with certain materials, including polyethylene, polypropylene, Teflon®, Tygon®, or similar materials, as well as glass, 304 or 316 stainless steel, or equivalents.
First Aid Measures
- Eyes: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; seek medical attention.
- Skin: Wash with soap and water.
- Ingestion: Drink plenty of milk or water; seek medical attention immediately; do not induce vomiting; it is recommended to call your local poison control center.
Spills
- Immediately absorb the spill using an inert material (vermiculite or sand).
- After absorption, moisten the material moderately with water, place it in a clean plastic bag, and dispose of it in accordance with national and local regulations.
Fire
- Peroxides may ignite and undergo a violent, accelerated combustion.
- Extinguish the fire with water from a safe distance, preferably using a water mist nozzle.
- For very small flames, carbon dioxide, foam, or dry chemical powder may be used to extinguish the fire.
- If the fire is in or near the storage area, spray water to lower the temperature of the storage containers.

- The standard packaging size for Superox® 688 is a 25 kg polyethylene drum.
