AOC Palatal® P 92I-910 Light-Curing Isophthalic Neopentyl Glycol-Based Unsaturated Polyester Resin for Pipe Repair

2023-12-21palatal-p-92i-910

The
P92 I-910 resin-based composite material, a m-phthalic isopentanediol-type unsaturated polyester resin for light-curing pipe rehabilitation, provides a solution for the rapid rehabilitation of drainage pipelines under trenchless conditions

Key Properties

  • Controllable thickening properties
  • Controllable pot life
  • Rapid penetration into glass fiber
  • Achieves the desired dimensions
  • High retention of long-term service performance

Typical Applications

Palatal® P 92 I-910 is particularly suitable for fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) products requiring outstanding chemical resistance and high mechanical strength,
such as storage tanks, containers, hydraulic engineering structures, pipelines, shipbuilding, corrosion protection, and the electronics industry. Palatal® P 92 I-910 is specifically designed for the production of glass fiber-reinforced prepregs. These prepregs are ideal for the repair of sewer pipes.

Curing conditions

Add 1.0 mL of CHP-NA (Peroxid-Chemie GmbH) and 0.1 mL of cobalt isooctanoate solution (1% diluted in styrene) to 100 g of resin. Post-curing: 100°C for 24 hours

Processing Guidelines

  • To ensure that the natural contours of products made with Palatal® P 92 I-910 resin that come into contact with air do not become tacky after curing, appropriate additives (such as a paraffin solution) must be added.
  • Palatal® P 92 I-910 can be cured using conventional curing agents and low-energy UV light (wavelength 365–420 nm). If the resin is not exposed to direct sunlight, the working time can be extended to several hours. The curing area does not need to be directly exposed to sunlight or UV light; this can be achieved by adding 0.5 mL of tert-butyl 2-ethylhexanoate peroxide (such as Arkema’s Luperox 26 or AkzoNobel’s Trigonox 21) to 100 g of resin. The addition of a small amount of peroxide is recommended in all applications requiring low styrene residue. If a small amount of peroxide is added to the resin, post-curing at 80°C for several hours is recommended to optimize the performance of the finished product.
