AOC PALATAL® K 775 V 02 Bisphenol A vinyl ester epoxy resin

2023-12-27palatal-k-775-v-02

Chemical/Physical Properties

Palatal® K 775 V-02 is a bisphenol A epoxy vinyl ester resin dissolved in styrene. This resin has moderate reactivity and moderate viscosity.
Palatal® K 775 V-02 is pre-promoted with an amine.

Main Applications

Palatal® K 775 V-02 is primarily used for chemical anchoring. It is also suitable for fiber-reinforced coatings and automotive body fillers/putty.
This resin exhibits excellent mechanical properties and high chemical resistance, particularly against alkaline media. Laminates made from Palatal® K 775 V-02 demonstrate outstanding long-term heat resistance.

Approvals

Cured, unreinforced Palatal® K 775 V-02 complies with Type 1310 of DIN 16946/2 and is classified as Group 5 according to DIN 18820/1.

Curing Conditions
Mechanical properties depend on the resin rather than the amine accelerator. Cure
with 2 mL of Butanox LPT (AKZO-Nobel)
and add 1 mL of cobalt octoate solution (a 1% cobalt solution in styrene) to
100 g of resin. Cure at room temperature for 24 hours, then at
120°C for 24 hours

Processing

Palatal® K 775 V-02 typically exhibits tack-free curing. However, the surface may not be fully cured.
To ensure that surfaces exposed to air are non-tacky, a suitable additive (e.g., a paraffin solution) should be added.
The final cure state can be optimized by post-curing for several hours at a high temperature (e.g., 80 or 100°C).
Palatal® K 775 V-02 is pre-activated with an amine and can be cured using common benzoyl peroxide (BP)-based curing agents. It is important to note that fillers, color pigments, and other additives affect not only the resin’s shelf life but also its curing properties.

Pre-Use Guidelines

The resin should be conditioned at a specific temperature determined by the application (MEKP/Co curing typically requires a minimum temperature of 15 °C). Curing with BP peroxides allows for curing at lower temperatures.
