Product Description. TBPB is a pale yellow, flowing liquid consisting of technically pure tert.Butylperoxy benzoate. This aromatic peroxide is mainly used as a curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins, mainly in the thermo-compression molding process of SMC or BMC, at a working temperature of 130-160°C.

• Appearance: light yellow liquid
• Peroxide content: approx. 99% w/w
• Active oxygen content: approx. 8.16% w/w
• No antisensitizers
• Density (20°C): approx. 1.04 g/cm³
• Viscosity (20°C): approx. 8 mPa.s
• Refractive index at 20°C: approx. 1.499
• Miscible with alcohols and phthalates, but not miscible with water
• SADT: approx. 60°C
• Cooling stability: freezing point below 10°C
• Starting temperature: approx. 90°C
• Recommended storage temperature: 10°C to 40°C
• Warranty period of 6 months from the date of delivery

Areas of Application.

• Curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins, suitable for all resin types
• Operating temperature range: 130-160°C
• Recommended dosage: 1-2% as supplied in stock solution
• Shelf life at room temperature (gel time of resin + peroxide) several months, depending on resin type
• Sensitive to some fillers and pigments as well as cobalt salts or tertiary aromatic amines
• Inhibitor BC 500 with 0.1-0.31 TP3T significantly extends shelf life
• Hot press molding temperature range of 130-160°C

Processing Methods:

• Mainly used for hot press molding of SMC or BMC
• Can also be used for impregnation, coil dip coating and other applications

Measurement data.

• The effect of temperature and peroxide dosage on curing performance and degree of cure was measured.

Packaging.

• Norox TBPB comes in a standard package of 25 kg.
