- Norox® MEC is a clear solution of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and cyclohexanone peroxide used as an initiator for unsaturated polyester resins, suitable for use at both low and room temperatures.
- Active oxygen content does not exceed 9.0.
- Form: Liquid.
- Color: Colorless and transparent.
- Specific gravity @ 25°C: 1.12.
- Viscosity @ 25°C: 18.0 cps.
- Flash point (SETA C.C.): Minimum 170°F/77°C.
- Soluble in: oxygen-containing organic solvents.
- Slightly soluble in: water.
- Norox® MEC is suitable for gelation and curing initiation of cobalt-promoted unsaturated polyester resins under low-temperature operating conditions. It also exhibits excellent performance at room temperature.
- Compared to standard MEKP formulations, it offers the following advantages:
- Shorter gel-to-cure times for many resins.
- It offers excellent storage stability due to the absence of impurities (water, hydrogen peroxide, unreacted methyl ethyl ketone, and other diluents).
- It demonstrates better performance in gel coatings (Norox® MEC’s hydrophobic properties provide better mixing and resin compatibility).
- NOROX® MEC is standardly packaged in 4x8-pound and 44-pound (20-kilogram) polyethylene bottles.
- Pre-colored 44-pound (20-kilogram) bottles are available.
