- NOROX® KPM is a colorless to pale yellow liquid composed of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and acetylacetone peroxide, modified with dimethyl phthalate.
- Main Applications: Used to cure unsaturated polyester resins in conjunction with cobalt accelerators at temperatures between 20 and 40 °C; particularly suitable for polyester parts cured and molded at room temperature.
- Appearance: Slightly yellow, transparent liquid
- Desensitizer: Dimethyl phthalate
- Active Oxygen (AO): Minimum 7.7% w/w
- Density (20 °C): approx. 1.13 g/cm³
- Viscosity (20 °C): approx. 28 mPa·s
- Flash point: > 65°C
- Solubility: Insoluble in water; soluble in phthalates
- Critical Temperature (SADT): approx. 60 °C
- Recommended storage temperature: 0–25 °C
- Storage stability from date of delivery: 3 months
- Standard packaging: 5 kg and 25 kg high-density polyethylene drums
- A special cold curing agent for curing unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature, used in conjunction with cobalt accelerators.
- Small amounts of inhibitors can be used to extend gel time; however, high doses of inhibitors are generally not recommended, as they reduce the reactivity of the peroxides.
- The gel time is similar to that of NOROX® KP-9, but the curing rate is significantly faster. It can be used as an alternative to NOROX® PD-40 to avoid cracking or residual stress issues caused by high peak temperatures.
- Not recommended for thermosetting systems, nor is it suitable for vinyl resins.
- Avoid heat sources, light, and humidity; protect the product from contamination by impurities; and maintain it within a safe temperature range.
