Description: NOROX® KP-9 FRED is a red-colored, free-flowing liquid composed of methyl ethyl ketone-based peroxides, primarily stabilized with phthalate plasticizers.This ketone peroxide is used as an initiator (radical source) for curing unsaturated polyester resins. Its primary application is in combination with cobalt accelerators for curing glass-fiber-reinforced products at room temperature. This red-colored version helps ensure uniform mixing and prevents discoloration during the curing process. Technical Data:

  • Viscosity (20°C): 9–15 mPa·s
  • Solubility: Soluble in oxygen-containing organic solvents; slightly soluble in water
  • Critical Temperature (SADT): 65°C
  • Recommended storage temperature: up to 30°C
  • Active for 6 months from the date of delivery
Applications: NOROX® KP-9 FRED is a general-purpose MEKP and a flagship product in the United Initiators series. It exhibits consistent performance with resins and gelatin at room temperature.NOROX® KP-9 FRED is an extremely pure and reliable product suitable for virtually every system. It is suitable for hand lay-up, spray-up, RTM, continuous lamination, centrifugal casting, filament winding, polyester concrete, and vacuum impregnation, among others.However, not every MEKP initiator formulation will provide optimal results in all resin systems. It is absolutely essential to evaluate the performance of each MEKP initiator in each intended resin before proceeding with full-scale production. Note:
  • NOROX® KP-9 FRED is not recommended for thermosetting systems and is not suitable for vinyl ester resins.
  • During storage, avoid heat sources, light, and humidity, and protect the product from contamination.
  • Standard product packaging sizes: 5 kg and 25 kg HDPE drums.
