- Product Name: NOROX® ENP-92
- Chemical Composition: Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP)
- Appearance: Colorless, free-flowing liquid containing a methyl ethyl ketone-based peroxide, demilitarized with fatty esters. This ketone peroxide is used as an initiator (radical source) in the curing of unsaturated polyester resins.
- Main Applications: Used at room temperature with a small amount of cobalt accelerator for casting buttons or in centrifugal casting of button blanks.
- Active Oxygen Content: Approximately 9.9% (by mass)
- Demulsifier: Fatty esters
- Density (20°C): approx. 1.04 g/cm³
- Viscosity at 20°C: approx. 21 mPa·s
- Insoluble in water, miscible with esters, soluble in unsaturated polyester resins (UP/VE).
- Critical temperature (SADT): approx. 60°C
- Recommended storage temperature: below 30°C
- Shelf life at 30°C: 6 months from the date of shipment
- Used as a room-temperature curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins, typically in combination with cobalt accelerators.
- Standard dosage: 1–3% as supplied, used in conjunction with a 0.2–2% cobalt solution.
- The "pot life" (gel time of the resin + peroxide mixture) is typically only a few hours, depending on temperature and resin type.
- The “pot life” (gel time of resin + peroxide + accelerator) is very short, even when using only a small amount of accelerator.
- Standard packaging sizes: 5 kg and 22.5 kg polyethylene bottles.
