Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX Vinyl Ester Mold Gel Coat is specifically designed for the manufacture of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) molds. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring high production efficiency and where heating is used to speed up mold turnaround, and is also suitable for FRP products that require high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.

Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX is a vinyl ester mold gel coat. It offers excellent overall performance, ease of application, high gloss, high hardness, superior mechanical properties, and outstanding styrene resistance at high temperatures.
Application Characteristics
Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX is a pre-accelerated, thixotropic gel coat. It is available in black, orange, and gray.
Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX offers excellent spray application performance and can be applied using standard equipment:
- For compressed-air spray guns, a nozzle diameter of 2.5–3.5 mm and a spray pressure of 4–5 atm are required
- For non-air-powered spray guns, the recommended nozzle sizes are 19/40 or 17/40, with a pressure of 3.5–4 atm
To achieve optimal results, we recommend that customers ensure the following application conditions:
- Before use, slowly and thoroughly stir each bucket of gel coat to prevent air bubbles caused by high-speed shearing
- The gel coat application temperature should be between 18°C and 25°C
- Relative humidity should be below 75%
- Use a curing agent solution with a 50% MEKP* concentration at a dosage of 1.5%–2.0%
- Apply a wet film thickness of no less than 600–800 µm in two coats: the first coat should be 300–400 µm, and the second coat—applied after the first has fully cured—should be approximately 400 µm
- To extend the service life of the mold, post-curing treatment must be performed on the mold prior to use

Packaging, Storage, and Handling
Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX is packaged in approximately 22 kg units (depending on the color). Store the product in its original, unopened packaging at a temperature not exceeding 20°C.Avoid direct sunlight and keep away from heat sources. Under these conditions, Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX has a stable storage life of three months from the date of shipment.
Neogel® 8393-W-XXXX has a flash point >21°C and is classified as a flammable product. Keep the product away from open flames during storage and use. For specific information, please refer to the product safety data sheet.
