- CUROX® M-312R is a red liquid consisting of a mixture of peroxides based on methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, primarily deactivated by fatty acid esters. This peroxide serves as a free-radical initiator for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature in combination with a cobalt accelerator.
- It is suitable for curing molded parts at room temperature when used in combination with cobalt accelerators. The red color of the peroxide allows for controlled homogenization of the resin, and the red color disappears after curing.
- Suitable for specific types of pre-accelerated and stabilized resins.
- Appearance: Colorless liquid
- Desensitizer: Fatty acid ester
- Active Oxygen (AO): Minimum 7.7–9.2% (mass percentage)
- Hydrogen peroxide content: approx. 2.6% (mass percentage)
- Density (20°C): Approximately 1.01 g/cm³
- Viscosity (20°C): approx. 13 mPa·s
- Refractive index (20°C): approx. 1.431
- Flash point: approx. 57°C
- Critical temperature (SADT): approx. 60°C
- Refrigerated stability: approx. -25°C
- Recommended storage temperature: below 30°C
- Storage stability from date of delivery: 6 months
- Standard packaging: 5 kg and 22.5 kg HDPE drums
- Suitable for curing all unsaturated polyester resins at room temperature in combination with cobalt accelerators. Particularly suitable for phthalate- and isophthalate-based resins.
- Standard dosage: 1–3% of the resin weight, combined with 0.5–2% of a 1% cobalt solution.
- The “pot life” (gel time of resin + peroxide) is typically only a few hours, depending on temperature and resin type.
- The "working time" (gel time of resin + peroxide + catalyst) is relatively short but can be extended by adding the TC-510 inhibitor. This significantly improves the mold release factor (fMR = tMR/tgel).
- Moderate heat release, long mold release time, and moderate mold release factor.
- Temperatures below 20°C significantly prolong the curing time; alternatively, cobalt/amine accelerators can be used.
- Particularly suitable for hand lay-up, spray-up, RTM, continuous lamination, centrifugal casting, fiber winding, and polyester concrete.
- Spray Equipment: Use spray equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly. Do not spray MEKP into the air to clean the spray gun.
- Decomposition products that may be detected: acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, fatty acids, acetylacetone
- Avoid heat sources, light, and moisture, and protect the product from contaminants. Keep within the safe temperature range.
