- Polyester Resin Curing: When combined with a cobalt accelerator, it is suitable for all types of unsaturated polyester resins, as well as vinyl ester resins. Standard dosage: 1–3%, plus 0.5–2% of a 1% cobalt solution (or an alternative cobalt amine accelerator).The typical “gel time” (resin + peroxide) depends on temperature and resin type, but is usually only a few hours. The “open mold time” (gel time of resin + peroxide + accelerator) is relatively long, especially when curing phthalic or isophthalic resins.
- Moderate exothermic reaction, resulting in low internal stress; suitable for vinyl ester resins.
- Relatively short demolding time, i.e., good mold release properties.
- Temperatures below 20°C and/or certain specialized resin types can significantly prolong curing time. For unsaturated polyester resins, use a more active grade (CUROX M-202, 302, 402); for vinyl ester resins, add an amine accelerator.
- Particularly suitable for hand lay-up, spray-up, centrifugal casting, fiber winding, resin casting, and surface coatings (fillers, putty, gel coats, and topcoats).
- Use spray equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure that all safety equipment is in proper working order. Do not spray MEKP into the air to clean the spray gun.
- Measure the “cobalt-curing” activity in accordance with DIN 16945 using OPA resin (20 g) at 25°C.
- The standard packaging specification for CUROX® M-102R is a 22.5-kilogram polyethylene bottle.
