Elastomeric Bisphenol A Epoxy Vinyl Ester Resin

Product Description

The AOC Vipel® F017 series is a styrene-soluble, elastomer-modified bisphenol A-type epoxy vinyl ester resin. Vipel® F017-AAA is a non-pre-accelerated, non-thixotropic resin.

Main Applications

The Vipel® F017 series is designed as a primer for bonding glass-fiber-reinforced composites to steel, concrete, and other substrates.

Performance Characteristics

Low volatile organic compound (VOC) content

All versions contain less than 40% (by weight) styrene.

Bonding

The Vipel® F017 series is designed as a primer for bonding glass-fiber-reinforced composites to steel, concrete, and other substrates.

Resilience

The Vipel® F017 series improves interlaminar adhesion and can be used in composite materials requiring greater flexibility.

General-Purpose

Suitable for various composite forming processes, such as hand lay-up, spray-up, and filament winding.

The cast resin is based on F017-AAA-00, with a test temperature of 25°C and relative humidity of 50%. All tests were conducted on castings made from pure resin.
The curing system for the castings consists of 0.05% dimethylaniline + 0.3% 6% cobalt naphthenate + 1.5% methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, cured at room temperature for 24 hours, followed by post-curing at 100°C for 2 hours.

The typical values listed here should not be construed as technical specifications. The gel times shown are typical values but may be affected by catalyst, accelerator, and polymerization inhibitor concentrations, as well as resin, mold, and shop temperature. Gelation characteristics may vary with different types of initiators and under conditions of extremely
high humidity. Pigments and/or fillers may delay or accelerate gelation.Manufacturers are advised to verify gelation characteristics using a small amount of resin under actual operating conditions prior to use.
