Applications
Vinyl chloride polymerization: Peroxide-based emulsions and suspensions are gaining increasing market acceptance. Why use water-based emulsions or suspensions? Safety reasons, solvent-free: does not contaminate the VCM recirculation stream, improves PVC purity, is easy to use (pumpable) in “closed-reactor technology,” and is easily diluted with water. Trigonox® EHP-W40S can be diluted with water, provided that stirring is used to prevent possible phase separation. Water-diluted Trigonox® EHP-W40S is the most elegant method for dissolving solids. The short-term stability or dilution of Trigonox® EHP-W40S is sufficient for short-term processing at temperatures up to 5°C. Trigonox® EHP-W40S is used for the suspension polymerization of vinyl chloride in the temperature range of 40–65°C. In practice, Trigonox® EHP-W40S is typically used in combination with other peroxides to improve reactor efficiency.
