Ketjenblack EC-300J is an electrically conductive carbon black with minimal impact on mechanical properties.
appliance
Ketjenblack EC-300J is a very pure carbon black that is ideally suited for antistatic and conductive applications. Due to its unique morphology and very high surface area of ca. 800 m2/g (BET), the same electrical conductivity can be achieved with only one third of the amount of Ketjenblack EC-300J compared to conventional conductive carbon blacks. The lower filler level of Ketjenblack EC-300J allows polymers that are sensitive to filler addition to be processed more easily, minimizing the loss of mechanical and rheological properties. When well dispersed with the polymer, Ketjenblack EC-300J significantly increases the conductivity of the resulting compound. Ketjenblack EC-300J can be used in all types of polymers, thermosets, thermoplastics and elastomers. Due to its unique morphology and structure and the relatively small amount of Ketjenblack EC-300J, excellent conductive materials can be produced. The low grit content results in a very smooth surface during extrusion. The loading required to obtain a certain conductivity varies depending on the polymer type. More detailed information is provided in our special Ketjenblack EC Technical Bulletin. Ketjenblack EC-300J has a very low ash content, making it the material of choice for semiconductor applications in cable shielding. Ketjenblack EC-300J can also be used to produce conductive coatings and primers. Here again optimum conductivity has been achieved at very low load levels, minimizing the loss of mechanical and rheological properties. Some of the other applications include batteries, packaging of IC components, pipes, flooring, carpet backing, automotive components, cell phones and many more. For more demanding applications, Ketjenblack EC-600JD is available with the same conductivity as Ketjenblack EC-300J at about half the amount.
