Introduction
WP-S5000 is a 125°C curing epoxy resin system from Wells New Materials (WAM) that features low resin loss and excellent impact resistance in finished products. It is widely used in the manufacture of high-performance sports equipment such as bicycles, hockey sticks, tennis rackets, golf clubs, and similar products. Its viscosity and tack make it ideal for prepreg processes. Its performance characteristics (viscosity and flexibility) vary very little with temperature changes. WP-S5000 can be stored for four weeks at room temperature and for one year at -18°C.
Features and Benefits
- Low resin loss rate
- Good impact resistance
- Hot-melt resin/solvent-free: Improved working conditions for employees; low porosity and superior product performance.
- Optimal prepreg processability: Good flexibility; resin properties vary minimally with temperature.
- Appropriate viscosity and tack
- Shelf life: Approximately 4 weeks (at 25 °C)
Recommended Application Processes and Products
- Mold Forming Processes (Blow Molding, Autoclave Molding, Hot Press Molding)
: Bicycles, ice hockey sticks, tennis rackets, helmets, mechanical components, etc. - Tube winding process: golf clubs, bicycles, etc.
Reference Curing Conditions
- Mold Molding: 90 minutes to 30 minutes (120–150°C)
- Tube Molding (Golf Clubs, Fishing Rods): 30 minutes at 80°C + 90 minutes at 125°C
Molding Conditions: Adjustments are required based on product thickness, heat transfer, and molding method.
