appliance
Trigonox V388 is a general purpose methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) for curing unsaturated polyester resins in the presence of a cobalt accelerator at room or elevated temperatures. It is particularly suitable for the production of reinforced or non-reinforced articles such as laminating resins and casting resins. MEKP with low water content and free of polar compounds, such as Butanox M-50, is recommended for use in shipbuilding.
At room temperature, Trigonox V388 needs to be used with a cobalt accelerator (such as Accelerator NL-49P) to achieve optimal curing results.
thermal stability
- Self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT)Temperature: 55°C
- Test Methods: Heat accumulation storage test, see Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria – United Nations.
stockpile
Due to the relative instability of organic peroxides, storage temperature should not exceed 25°C. When stored under the recommended conditions, Trigonox V388 remains within product specifications for at least 6 months after delivery.
Packaging and transportation
- Standard Packaging: 20 kg peroxide solution in 30 liter HDPE (Nourytainer®) barrel
- Transport Classification: Organic peroxide, Class D; Liquid, Class 5.2; UN 3105, PG II
Security and handling
Keep the container tightly closed, store and operate in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from heat or ignition sources, avoid direct sunlight. Avoid contact with reducing agents, acids, alkalis and heavy metal compounds (such as accelerators, desiccants and metal soaps).
