Contains no toxic ingredients

As an innovative company, we offer a range of high-value new products and technologies, including Trigonox® 421, the latest generation of organic peroxides for acrylic resin polymerization and the production of polymer polyols. Polymer polyols are used in foams for interior furnishings and bedding.

Trigonox® 421 is an eco-friendly peroxide initiator that serves as an alternative to traditional azo initiators.
• TMSN-free •
No toxic decomposition products
• Direct substitute for AIBN and
AMBN • Liquid formulation for easy metering and dosing

A New Alternative to Azo Compounds

AIBN (azodibutyronitrile) is used in many polymerization processes. Upon decomposition, it forms toxic tetramethylbutanedinitrile (TMSN). To address this issue, Nouryon developed Trigonox® 421, making TMSN a thing of the past.
Approximately 4,000 metric tons of TMSN are produced annually through the decomposition of AIBN: azo initiators—specifically AIBN—are used because of their unique properties.Upon decomposition, it produces 100% selective C-centered radicals. Compared to the aggressive O-centered radicals typically formed by organic peroxides, these C-centered radicals allow for better control of molecular weight. This is primarily due to the lower level of branching produced. This is particularly important for applications involving high-solids acrylic resins and polymeric polyols.
In contrast to AIBN (azodibutyronitrile), 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl 2-ethylhexyl peroxide (Trigonox® 421) does not produce any toxic byproducts: unlike most other peroxides, Trigonox® 421 generates almost exclusively selective C-radicals upon decomposition. Therefore, like AIBN, it is particularly well-suited for applications where controlling branching and molecular weight is of critical importance. At the same time, Trigonox® 421 has already replaced AIBN in many commercial applications, proving the above concept in practice.
Another advantage of Trigonox® 421 is that it is liquid. Consequently, feeding it into industrial batch and continuous processes is much easier.
In summary:
• Trigonox® 421 is an alternative to AIBN
• Trigonox® 421 does not produce toxic decomposition products
• Trigonox® 421 is a liquid, making it easy to meter and feed.
